SecurityManager checkRead(String, Object) in Java

checkRead(String, Object): This method is available in the java.lang.SecurityManager class of Java.

Syntax:

void java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(String file, Object context)

This method takes two arguments. This method throws a SecurityException if the specified security context is not allowed to read the file specified by the string argument.

The context must be a security context returned by a previous call to getSecurityContext.

Parameters: Two parameters are required for this method.

file: the system-dependent filename.

context: a system-dependent security context.

Returns: NA

Throws:

1. SecurityException - if the specified security context is not an instance of AccessControlContext(e.g., is null), or does not have permission to read the specified file.

2. NullPointerException - if the fileargument is null.

Approach

Java

package com.SecurityManager;

public class SecurityManagercheckRead3 {
    public static void main(String[] args) {

        SecurityManager securityManager = new SecurityManager();

        String file = "D:\\hello.txt";
        Object context = "hello";
        securityManager.checkRead(file, context);
        System.out.println("Successfully checkRead");
    }
}

Output:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.SecurityException at java.base/java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:446) at java.base/java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(SecurityManager.java:782) at com.SecurityManager.SecurityManagercheckRead3.main(SecurityManagercheckRead3.java:10)
