UUID version() in Java

version(): This method is available in java.util.UUID class of Java.

Syntax:

int java.util.UUID.version()

This method returns the version number associated with this UUID. The version number describes how this UUID was generated.

The version number has the following meaning:

1. 1 Time-based UUID.

2. 2 DCE security UUID.

3. 3 Name-based UUID.

4. 4 Randomly generated UUID.

Parameters: NA

Returns: The version number of this UUID.
